My dissertation topic is about how important artist organized exhibitions have been. Many of the great and successful artists have organized their own shows.
the impressionists, Pre-Raphealites, Russian Symbolists, Expressionists, Surealists, Dadaists, abstract expressionists, pop artists. The Whitney Museum started as an artists club by Grace Vanderbilt Whitney. I just read
about the show by Damien Hirst and his group. the moral? organize your own show, solo, group theme or group, if no one wants to show you- show yourself
