I started writing Poetry to get down on paper some of the thoughts swilling about my head. Passion for a subject or cause is paramount to me or it becomes boring and locks away my enthusiasm.

I do not consider my thoughts poetry. They are my thoughts nothing more, like someone mentioned in an earlier post. Strangely enough, I only began writing my letters and rhymes just a year or so ago. This also goes for my visual creations; I am quite naive in both forms~ new to the fields if you will... I was illiterate most of my adult life, until a few years ago; I realized how much I was missing. I was not humble enough to ask for help, so in my fashion I took on the task of educating myself. I thought if I could not read nor write, I must read and write as much as I could to correct the problem. After I was able to read and write in basic terms, I then worked on structure and giving my work feeling. Today I have forgotten about learning to read and write, now just enjoy the freedom it provides.
Poetry is a great communicator if poets allow it to be. To me, it's a life long ambition to communicate, not just to everyone, but anyone. Do we, as poets, achieve this, today?
