I'm in the process of becoming Roman Catholic, and I didn't know what a "Servant of God" was until I got a "prayer card" from an organization that spotlighted Fr. Vincent. A Servant of God is a person who has died, but who - in death - has "helped" people in some way. The Catholic church researches these "events" and thru some process decides he/she can be named "a Servant of God." I think it may be a "stepping stone" to sainthood (though I imagine not all Servants become Saints). Anyway, Fr. Vincent has "helped" me twice in miraculous ways -- so he is currently my favorite "person." :-)
Oooooh, ice cream! Please eat some for me -- I don't eat it anymore. But it is surely one of the finest pleasures in life, yes? :-) As it cools your insides, let the outside warm to SPRING!!! Hurry, spring! We're all waiting!!! :-)
Your English is FABulous! But that's cuz you're not an American. LOL! Ever hear the old joke??
A: What do you call someone who can speak 2 languages?
B: Bilingual.
A: What do you call someone who can speak 3 language?
B: Trilingual.
A: What do you call someone who can only speak 1 language?
B: An American.
:-) :-) :-) So to you, I say BRAVO! [Uh, brava?] :-)
Yesterday is was in the high 50's F. This weekend is supposed to bring snow and rain. Oh, well. We'll have to wait a bit longer for spring. I know how it is to be restless in late winter...waiting for spring. - S
"Summit AT Carmen's Garden" vs. Summit IN Carmen's Garden"....
You're right -- there is a distinction! I think "summits" sound more important if they are "AT" a location. That's just my two cents. Great brain teaser for me! [A linguist!] :-)
Oh, I *love* how Virtual-Arvada came into being! That's a riot! :-)
And I love the title of the upcoming festival in your garden!! Wonderful imagery. It deserves a stamp made in its honor with a large mailing. :-) [Gotta love MailArt!]
Ohhhhh, JP, CR, I get it. :-)
How nice to go to Norway every summer! I have a friend in Trondheim, never been there though... She and I used to email a lot -- fallen away now for some time. That's how it goes, I guess.
Love the idea of your Norwegian diary!! I like making books. Or covering blank books...
Your profile says "Arvada, US" -- were you from there? My family was from Denver (tho I was born in NYC and have stayed East). - Susan
Wow, 3 comments from you -- thank you. :-) I'm afraid I lost you when you talked about "JP" and "CR'. I must be losing my grip. I checked out Etsy -- I'm pretty sure I'll join some day. Right now I have a webpage but I haven't done anything with it for years....[beadsbysuzy] Your son is in Norway! So far away... Do you visit him there? My daughter and her two children are only an hour's drive from here. I know I"m spoiled. But when we lived in Virginia, it was a 3-hour drive one way! That was hard. My sister is a 2-hour drive, but my brother is all the way across the country in California. Thanks for writing!
I miss the garden and woods near our other home in VA. That's all gone now -- we will "age in place" here in our condo. We do have a balcony, so some flower planters are possible! :-) I can't wait to see your 3D heads! I'm very interested in that! And if plaster is too "messy", try some paper-clay! Sorry about your tooth. :-( That's a difficult kind of discomfort because it's right next door to your brain! Hard to think! Get well soon! - Susan
Oh, Romania! How "romantic" it all seems to this American. :-) Your winters and summers sound heavenly. And I love what you are doing to your walls!!! I wish I had the nerve! :-) Must share the space with a sensible husband, though. :-) I understand what you mean about needing "direction and purpose" by working on the paintings of others. I find I get a lot of inspiration that way too, and I do some derivative work, too. Your two exhibits in April and September should be FABulous!! I hope you will post photos on Creative Crossing for all of us who can't be there. - Susan
Yes, we moved from very rural Virginia to DC (moving back to a condo we've always owned). Yes, too, to the notion that the cleanup will leave me more time! How exciting that you'll be having an exhibition! Your photography? photo manipulation? Should be fantastic. I, too, am nervous about the canvas. :-) I've only tried my hand at painting one or two times. I guess I'm more a 3D person. But I have a great quotation for you from Vincent Van Gogh: "If you hear a voice within you say, 'You cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced." Pretty scary, huh! :-) When is your exhibit? - Susan
Paper arts -- collage, bookmaking, handmade paper, decoupage, mailart, faux postage. Believe it or not, I may be letting some of it go. We've just moved from a 3-floor, 3-bedroom house to a one-floor, 2 bedroom flat, and I have no room for anything!!! We still have stuff in storage, so I have big decisions to make. Not a lot of fun. :-( But once it's done, I'll have a studio that is settled, and not overcrowded. So that's a good thing. :-)
Thank you very much! I'm mostly into fabric, but have done a lot with beadwork (mostly jewelry), and more recently, paper arts. But I do like to farble around with images on the computer from time to time. :-) Thank you for your kind words! - Susan
Well, I liked what you did with those googlemap images, so I thought I'd try. The colors and textures do surprise, don't they! :-) So glad you posted your blog idea! - Susan
Thanks for the invite :-)
I think the Arts on the Internet (and off the Internet) need a good "kick up the arse" to get some experimenting and proper creativity back. Hopefully, this site will help inspire me.
This is a creative platform for all creative people.
